Market News 6

I’m hoping everyone survived the recent flooding. It was unfortunate our market couldn’t operate during this time but everyone’s safety is always paramount. Our market farmers had picked and packed the trucks and were prepared to attend the market until the 11th hour when it was realised at 4am on Wednesday access wasn’t possible. These extreme climatic events affect our farmers and customers alike so it was great to see the government supporting the “Eat Australian on Australia day” campaign. This first time event was staged outside the Primary Producers House in Brisbane on Australia Day and was represented by some of Australia’s biggest farming associations and councils. It’s important to recognise and appreciate the challenging conditions our farmers face in their endeavour to provide us with food. Our market really appreciates the support of our regular customers.
I will miss seeing the school kids at the market. It’s wonderful to see what an active role they play in selecting what is eaten in their households. For lunch box suggestions talk to any of our farmers who will be happy to provide some healthy options.
Our market is open 7am to 11am every Wednesday just visit us at the Murwillumbah Showgrounds via the Harry Williams Gate. The pavilion provides shopping in all but the most extreme weather conditions.
