Welcome to the first edition of The Caldera Farmers Market Murwillumbah column. Within the next few weeks our watermelons will be fully ripened and by January the Mushroom ladies will have figs and raspberries. Our faithful strawberries & bananas are always in season at the market, in fact Rainbow Fruit Flats have managed to plant winter & summer strawberry crops this year and their Dragon fruit will be ready by Jan. Our resident guest is an Applethorpe farmer who has been picking apricots, be quick as they are soon snapped up.
Blueberry fields orchard provides the tastiest blueberries and Jan Sinclair’s Mother Nature’s Bush tucker from Nth Tumbulgum will be available.
Sylva Lining has the most amazing organic garlic as well as garlic flowers plus we currently have an abundance of beans, beetroot, cucumbers, capsicums, fresh herbs, lettuces, potatoes, sweet corn, tomatoes and zucchinis as well as Des Cecils zucchini flowers. One enterprising farmer Ian McRae from Nudgel Nuts can provide his macadamia nuts in Christmas postpaks, a great gift idea or consider purchasing a Caldera Farmers Market voucher. This month we have the CWA selling their Christmas goodies & cookbooks. Be sure to order your Blissett ham from the Loades meat stall this week. Join us for our Christmas celebration, where you can sample what the market producers have to offer. For every purchase in December you can go into the draw to win a market food hamper, drawn on the 28th Dec.
