What’s GOOD at the Market this Week?Strawberries -beautiful!

So much is great but this week we are shining the spotlight on strawberries and blueberries! How fortunate we are to have these sweet, succulent morsels of delight so early in the season. In the past blueberries have not arrived at the market until well into spring! With this abundance why not make a spectacular dessert this week?  Combine both strawberries and blueberries in a small glass bowl or even small glasses for individual servings (they look spectacular together); add a good dollop of  Nimbin Valley Dairy yoghurt or a cultured cream. This combination looks sensational and tastes even better.

Not only do berries taste delicious they offer so many health benefits. Dr Mercola says that unless you overeat them you cannot go wrong with berries of all kinds. He lists a whole host of benefits including that: “they contain the powerful phytochemicals such as ellagic acid that provide antioxidant protection, as well as directly inhibit the DIMG_4025NA binding of certain carcinogens. Berries are also excellent sources of vitamin C, carotenes, carotenoids, zinc, potassium, iron, calcium and magnesium; they’re high in fibre and low in sugar”.

Strawberries and blueberries are extra good for heart health. Also great for heart health are avocados with their mono saturated fats and high levels of potassium.
