What a great turn out for the Caldera Market’s 2nd birthday celebration! It’s lovely to see so many people enjoying the market ambience; chatting to farmers and stall holders catching up with friends over a cuppa, buying
fresh, wholesome foods, enjoying the weekly entertainment and smelling the roses (literally).
Congratulations to the shoppers who won market money on the day. Check out Facebook to see some of the lucky winners. School holidays are just around the corner and we welcome our younger shoppers to the market with some fun entertainment and surprising specials.
We warmly welcome our newest stall – Healthy Whole Foods. Stallholder Jeanie-Rose is selling an array of freshly prepared cultured vegetable blends, Kombucha, raw treats and snacks and a range of quality books. For those
not familiar with Kombucha, it is an effervescent fermentation of sweetened tea that has a reputation for healing hundreds of different ailments, and is renowned as an anti-ageing treatment. Jeani-Rose offers a special Kombucha blend of Spirulina and mint. Mmm, who can resist the promise of youthful looks?
Go nuts – daily
Talking health, the new NHMRC Australian Dietary Guidelines recommends that Australians increase their consumption of nuts. The guidelines suggest that up to 30g of nuts a day – or a small handful – is
beneficial to health. The Caldera Farmers Market has two local nut producers offering macadamia and pecan nuts. Macadamias are a high energy food containing no cholesterol. They are high in essential fatty acids and are
known to be great brain food. Several large scale research studies have shown that a handful of pecan nuts lower heart disease risk and assist in lowering cholesterol levels. Both nuts are high in unsaturated fat – the kind that is good for you. Also, being high in fibre, they make a great snack, control hunger and contribute towards weight loss.
Look forward to seeing you at the market next Wednesday from 7am until 11am (rain or shine) at Murwillumbah Showgrounds via the Harry Williams Gate.
