Narbey’s Best Avocados and lots of recipe inspiration.

What’s GREAT at the Market?

Beautiful warm spring days shout salads – delicious crispy salads with lots of colour and flavour. We have a vast variety of salad greens available at the market right now. The Gourmet Salad Hut has a huge variety of herbs, lettuce, cress and much more. Summit Organics has loads of greens and Bio Organic Farm has delicious sweet capsicum and Lebanese cucumbers as well as greens.. Peas and beans are still available at many of the farm stalls too. Avocados add that extra special flavour to almost any salad …… so …….

If you love avocados then we have plenty for you. This week we welcome back Doug and Blanche of Narbey’s Best Avocados with their VERY popular chemical free avocados. At this time of year it is Hass. Everest Farm also has Hass and Jumping Red Ant has Hass and the very popular Reed avocados. So much choice!

How about avocado toast for breakfast or maybe an avocado smoothie? I love avocado sushi – the perfect lunch box meal.

At this time of year it is sometimes very warm and then we have the occasional cool day;  perfect for both one pot meals and salads so I hope this link to Yotam Ottolenghi’s tray bake recipes inspires you to try something new too. I love this herby cabbage and potato gratin with gruyere and ricotta OR baked cauliflower with spices, spinach and tomato. Especially while cabbages and cauliflowers are still in season up here.
