Good Food Month- strawberries AND blueberries plus new spring vegies!

It is Good Food Month this month and we are so lucky living in the Tweed where we have such a variety of fresh produce – just imagine – freshly picked strawberries AND blueberries as well a vast selection of greens, sweet red capsicums and the last of the winter brassicas still available! Let’s celebrate the GOOD FOOD from our farmers this month.

This week:

Spice Palace is taking a well earned break and will NOT be at the market so no olive oil this week.  Duska will be back refreshed next week with Summerland Olive oil and all her great Spice Palace products.

Chickens are loving the spring weather and laying well so there are plenty of eggs at the market – free range from Kevin and Heather at the Mountain View eggs/rice/mushroom stall AND organic eggs from Sylva Lining Organics.

Blueberries are back! Amanda will be at the market this week but the only FORTNIGHTLY until the end of November. The blueberries are from Otto and Lynette’s Blueberry Fields farm at Brooklet near Newrybar. The lovely Amanda will also bring a small supply of her heirloom tomatoes – in conversion to organic.imgres-1

Mt Warning Bakehouse (in the pavilion) has been awarded silver and bronze for a number of their pies so pop by and have a chat to Trish – the master chef!

Bio Organic Farm’s sweet red capsicum and Lebanese cucumbers are back along with massive bunches of silver beet.

Jumping Red Ant will have roses, gerberas & lisianthus’s this week. They planted another 200 cucumbers last week to keep them coming in during spring and summer.10710972_1545728148994347_1349431222109221978_n-1

The heat is bringing out the cool … so beat the heat by selecting from the range of cool drinks offered by various stallholders from chai kombucha to sparkling lemon myrtle and organic apple juice ((at the B&B stall), cool smoothies at Rainbow Fruit Flats and Lime Mint cooler at Local Fusion Foods.

Other Changes … relocating stalls ….

To beat the heat we are relocating some of our regular stallholders. This week we are closing off parking in the section under the camphor’s to relocate stalls into their shade. So look for coffee, pizzas, bread and dairy under the camphors.

Our food vendors are relocating closer to the pavilion to seek more shelter from the sun so take a walk and see where your favourite stalls are this week.

Marquees will be linked to form more shaded areas for seating and eating.
