What’s GREAT at the market this week?

cucumber

Cucumbers
As the weather warms up, cool down with refreshing cucumbers.

With a high water content (around 95 per cent by weight) they’ll help keep you hydrated and they’re also a good source of good source of vitamins A and C and minerals such as potassium and manganese.

Choose cucumbers that are firm to the touch and store in the fridge.

Serving suggestions:

  • Add diced cucumbers to some crushed garlic, Greek yoghurt, lemon juice and fresh herbs for a simple yet tasty tzatziki dipping sauce.
  • Place fine slices of peeled fresh cucumber between buttered soft white bread with the crusts removed and cut into fingers for a traditional English cucumber sandwich. Serve with tea as a light afternoon refreshment.
  • For adults only: slice into thin strips and add to a gin and tonic.avocado

Avocados
Although Doug and Blanche Narbey’s avocado season has finished Jumping Red Ant will have avocados for about another two weeks.

*NEW* ATM at the market!
We now have an ATM onsite for your shopping convenience.
