Market News 17

Thanks to Delece Flight for entertaining the kids at the market for the last week of the April School holidays. It’s a community week this Wednesday. Julia Hancock will be at the market to talk about her Grow it, Eat it idea. Also on site will be the Tweed Shire Councils Natural Resource Management Unit which has a Pest Management Program Area. One of the functions of this initiative is to implement programs to reduce the impacts to biodiversity from vertebrate pests such as Indian Mynas, Rabbits and Foxes. Program Leader Pamela Gray will be the market on the 2nd May. Stop by and have a chat with her about the Councils programs to support community members that want to protect native fauna from the impacts of Indian Mynas and rabbits.
Phil Buck from Burringbar Quarterdeck Organic Orchards will be back with his citrus, juices and marmalades in the next few weeks. Phil has been watching his fruit slowly ripen and is keen to return to the market. He’s provided me with a recipe for Meyer Lemon Shortcakes with Meyer Curd and Mixed Citrus which I will place on our website.
And of course we will have our usual produce of organic & non- organic fruit & vegetables, honey, macadamias, pecans, eggs, cheese, mushrooms, bread, coffee, relishes, dried fruit, meat and organic seedlings.
Our market is open 7am to 11am every Wednesday at the Murwillumbah Showgrounds via the Harry Williams Gate.”
