Cooking demo with prizes to win; pumpkins, bone broth and limes.

What’s NEW this Week?

This week we welcome Linda Molloy and Melissa Leistra of the Wholesome Tart cooking, catering and coaching  business to show us an inspired autumn breakfast. Be in the audience – commencing at 9.30 to be in the running to win the breakfast being cooked or one of a number of other prizes. Linda who is studying nutrition is an inspired and popular cook who has catered for many retreats and also pops up in cafes around town. You may remember Linda as a stallholder at the market several years ago. Come and enjoy their demo this week.

What’s GREAT This Week?

PARKING – YES parking in the showgrounds is permitted again. So the market is back to normal again. We thank you so much for your patience.

Autumn heralds the arrival of lots of new fruit and vegies AND soup weather! One of our very popular vegies are pumpkins so relax and enjoy the cooler evenings with a big bowl of warming pumpkin soup – and why not add a large dash of cream for a rich smooth flavor.

Oven roasted pumpkins make the most divine soups and if you use bone broths as a base then they are not only extra tasty but also very nourishing AND healing. Pumpkins are available from:

  • Everest Farm
  • Cecil Farm
  • Bio Organic Farm and
  • Sylva Lining Organics.

Jess at Marci Foods sells her Nourished Live Foods bone broths made using certified organic bones. A trained chef – Jess said that these mineral rich broths are so easy to use and so very good for our health. She said that they help to heal leaky gut (especially the very gelatinous beef bone broth) and they can reduce inflammation – great news for anyone with joint inflammation. Jess recommends having a warming bone broth cuppa before a meal to help with digestion and especially to ward off the lurgy or to speed up recovery if you have been caught out.

So pick up a bone broth this week and make a soup to nourish your soul.

Lettuce are diverse and in abundance at Sylva Lining Organics so if you love a refreshing salad and/or green smoothies you are spoilt for choice. They have frilly , fancy, oak leaf, summer harvest, cos verdi and cos romaine to name a few. The Gourmet Salad Hut also has a a variety of lettuce and leafy greens.

Nothing adds a fresh zing to dishes like a lime and they are now in season. Try a lime spritzer or lime-ade! Lime juice adds a superb flavor to so many dishes. Its acidity is perfect for bringing balance to a meal and the floral aroma of its zest is wonderful in both savoury and sweet dishes. I am dreaming about lime chicken and herbs – also with a dash of cream – of course!

Visit our recipes page for one of my favourites Lime and Avocado Tart. Limes are available at:

  • Jumping Red Ant
  • The Gourmet Salad hut
  • My Farm Kitchen
  • Bio Organic Farm and
  • Sylva Lining Organics
