Page mandarines + navels + snow peas + green harissa +Somnifera soaps

What’s GREAT at the Market this Week?
While many of our farm stalls have some citrus this week we welcome Stephen Cousins who is bringing a full range of citrus grown on his family farm at Burringbar. If you have been looking for locally grown mandarins then this week you will be delighted to enjoy Page mandarins. This is a wonderfully sweet juicy seedless fruit first discovered in Orlando USA in 1963. It is believed to be a cross between a clementine mandarin and a tangelo.
Stephen will also have delicious juicy navel oranges and coming soon – blood oranges. This variety needs a few more chilly nights to produce the sweetness that we all love.
Tangors, cumquats lemons and limes – there is citrus galore this week. The Gourmet Salad Hut has oranges, lemons and grapefruit as well and Sylva Lining Organics has some certified organic citrus.

Somnifera Soaps is a handmade product of the creative Cousin’s family. So they will also have at the market fantastic soaps that include a soap especially made to use on your hair – yes a liquid shampoo replacement. From their Facebook page I discovered that their new batches of shampoo/conditioners come in Pina Colada/Salty Lime made with coconut milk for super soft hair and Dragons Egg and Dragons Blood to provide a protein boost to strengthen fine/damaged hair.

SNOW PEAS are being picked by Sylva Lining Organics this week. Delightful steamed or added to a salad we love their sweet crunchiness.

Spice Palace has been picking organic green chillies from their patch and making batches of green harissa. From garden to jar within a few short hours means the super fresh and a most delicious harissa. This immediacy of produce to product has been their vision for many years!
