Merry Christmas to you all!

The Murwillumbah Farmers’ Market committee wishes all of our market stallholders, members and patrons a very Merry Christmas!

I love the buzz of enthusiastic shoppers arriving throughout the morning every Wednesday. It is wonderful to see the camaraderie in the eating precinct – as families and friends gather to socialise or relax and enjoy the music and the variety of foods offered by our dedicated stallholders. And it is wonderful to know there is such support for our farmers.

All our shoppers from around the Tweed and further afield – the NSW South Coast , Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, and more local regulars from Tallebudgera, Robina, Burleigh, Currumbin to name a few – have really helped us to expand our market and we hope to bring more expansion in 2015.

So a big MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all and I hope 2015 brings you and your family good health and happiness.

Food and culture market – update

I have been profiling all our designers and artisans on our Facebook page over the past week and will continue to show their amazing creations right up to and including Tuesday. We have 11 designer/artisans bringing their creations this week (several are sharing a stall) so they will be intermingled with our regular stalls – mostly outside but two inside.

Last week you saw some of the amazing creations that will be available this week. Here are some more examples .. from Bon Bon Creations:collage of pendants.jpg.opt340x340o0,0s340x340

Recipe tip

How to make your salad zing and crunch!

Toss mixed salad leaves with a squeeze of lemon and a splash of olive oil (Summerland lemon myrtle flavoured olive oil is divine – from Spice Palace); mix a selection of torn herbs into the salad to add finesse, finely sliced radishes to add heat and freshly picked cucumbers to add crunch. Now add roasted beetroot and sweet potato cubes and sprinkle the lot with crumbled goat’s feta. Drizzle with garlic infused olive oil and just before serving lightly sprinkle the whole salad with macadamia dukka (from Spice Palace) and a dash of balsamic vinegar and you have a perfect hearty salad to serve alone or with grilled meat or even with turkey for Christmas.
