Little Argentina will be at the market for the first time this week. Liron and Manuela are offering a selection of traditional hot Argentinian foods and treats as well as the classic Argentinian natural drinks, Yerba Mate and Argentinian herbal drinks.
This week is the 2nd market for Chai Harem with Greg and Henry are bringing you a range of Chai teas including dandelion and chocolate made with whole spices. Herbal teas are also available. These are served in a wonderfully colourfully soft seat lounge tent. Come and relax in their tent while enjoying their teas and sweets.
Regular stallholders and fresh produce updates:
Crumbs and Stuff – Sarah is continuing her supply of the very, very popular Portuguese Tarts. In addition she will be bringing rocky road, made with handmade marshmallows (gluten free) and a gluten free (and grain free) chocolate mud cake. She will also have ice cold cups of handmade cordial.
Jumping Red Ant has been busy digging up their Sebago potatoes, picking tomatoes and lots more fresh produce. Dutch Creams planted in July should be ready in November. Beautiful spring weather is wonderful for their flowers. They have roses, gerbera and lisianthus coming soon – John says possibly within the next couple of weeks.
Their NEW organic granola is a wonderful wholesome breakfast so pop by and taste while your bagel is being prepared.
Recipe for this week
With this lovely warm weather and still many beautiful fresh herbs I find rice paper rolls so versatile and appealing. Prepare ingredients and place in bowls on the table so that each person can make their own roll.
- Rice paper wrappers
- A selection of shredded meats and vegetables to use as filling (whatever appeals on the day – select from shredded chicken; pawns; shredded omelette; and lots of vegies very finely sliced or shredded)
- Fresh mint
- Fresh coriander
- Thai basil
- Vermicelli rice noodles
1.Using a pie dish with warm water – soak the rice paper wrappers for 10 seconds
2. Place rice wrappers on a dinner plate and fill with whatever combination of ingredients appeals!!
I like to use grated carrots, mint, coriander Vermicelli rice noodles, broccoli sprouts (or sunflower), very finely shredded cabbage or rocket and organic chicken.
Fold over the sides of each wrapper. Roll up tightly into a bundle.
And dip to your hearts content in either:
- Tamari or
- Chilly sauce
Coming soon – School Holidays!
School holidays commence next week so we have booked Shorty Brown – the clowning around balloon person.
The second week is Kids for kids day” – thanks to Carlu and Nimbin Valley Dairy who will be bringing some of their beautiful baby goats to the market for children to see and maybe pat. We may have Kisa Baldwin back from Rosellas Community Preschool with some children’s activities.
