King prawns, Shepard Avocados and Mahi Mahi

What’s New at the Market this Week?Avocado sliced

Narbey’s Best Avocados are back this week. We are thrilled to have Doug and Blanche back. They begin with Shepard avocados which are wonderful especially as the flesh doesn’t go brown once cut; very tasty in salads and with fresh seafood.

This weeks FRESH SEAFOOD is oysters plus fresh kingking-prawns-3347444 prawns, some frozen green prawns, frozen mahi mahi and mackerel fillets. Also fresh cobia.

Mahi mahi is a beautiful white fish delicious served with fresh macadamia nuts and pesto Or try Soft Mahi mahi tacos with ginger lime dressing. Delicious soft organic tortillas that can be used as tacos are available from the market’s Spice Palace Stall. Avocados, lime and fresh ginger are all available at the market. The recipe is from:

Cobia is highly valued for its firm texture and excellent flavour usually grilled or poached. Here is a link to a recipe for cobia with lemon caper sauce:

Coming Soon

Returning next week and for the school holidays will be Crabbes Creek Wood Fired Pizzas (not at the market this week).

David and Kaye McNaught at Tweed River Pecans have commenced IMG_0217this season’s harvest! Over Easter they shook 76 pecan trees – the Pawnee variety – which is the earliest to ripen. They now have 600kg of nuts in the drying room. These will be at the market (in the shell only) on 13th April – very tasty, very very fresh, low food miles and grown biodynamically! How lucky are we??

Entertainment: Jessie Morris solo (from the Jessie Morris Band). Jessie describes his music as conscious blues roots & Reggae music. Perfect for a beautiful autumn market.

Weather Forecast is for: Another perfectly warm autumn day. Partly cloudy with areas of morning fog and perhaps some light winds. Temperature range is a comfortable overnight of 17 with daytime temperatures reaching around 30 degrees.
