Jumping Red Ant planted their kipfler potatoes back in March this year. Freshly dug for the market they are now available. These elongated finger shaped potatoes with pale yellow skin and yellow flesh are a favourite of many potato lovers. Originally from Germany – this great tasting waxy potato has a lower GI than many of the high starch varieties. Some believe the kipfler is best used for baking and boiling and is wonderful in a potato salad. So try them steamed in a warm winter salad with roasted capsicum, garlic and onion tossed on freshly picked mixed fancy lettuces and rocket. Use your favourite dressing.11403050_1665177620382732_8266493403849350972_n

img_0985_2At Sylva Lining Organics Ian Willis will be talking about how they farm organically using mulch and making their own compost. Their focus is on improving their soil every year through organic farming practices such as crop rotation and green manure crops to rejuvenate the soil. They raise livestock as well as grow vegetables. Why? Ian says “come and learn the difference between linear farming and cyclic farming”. If you share Ian and Sylva’s passion about detoxifying our food source then you will enjoy this farm visit
