Red and green harissa and more about Spice Palace

What’s GREAT This Week?

Another near perfect day in paradise has been forecast for our market this week.

Congratulations to Rob and Duska who have welcomed little Ginger into their family. A sister for eight year old Polly (who took this photo) and 10 year old Sunny.

With lots of warming meals being planned as we anticipate nurturing foods on cooler nights we know that adding fresh pestos, pastes and spices can make a huge difference to flavour and add variety.

We are very fortunate that we have Rob Cullinan’s and Duska Jefed’s Spice Palace bringing their locally made, low food miles dips, pestos and pastes to the market. They use the freshest produce straight from their very own vegie patch. How good is that? Unlike commercial products made for a long shelf life that use substitutes for the real thing – you can be sure that Spice Palace’s are the purest and best – using freshly crushed garlic, freshly squeezed lemon juice, just picked beetroot, freshly blitzed coriander and basil and so much more.

So it is your lucky week – Rob has let me know that this week they are offering a SPECIAL –  two dips for ONLY $10. Once tasted you will definitely be back for more. BE TEMPTED 🙂

Love hot and spicy? Spice Palace’s green and red harissa chilli pastes are addictive. Harissa is a fiery and garlicky spice paste that’s traditionally served alongside bread, stews and couscous dishes. But it is so versatile and can be used in so many ways. Great mixed in mayo or through yoghurt for a delicious sauce, mixed with honey and rubbed on chicken wings and drum sticks before roasting and in a mince based dishes too.

Made using either their own or locally grown organic red chillies with garlic, cold pressed olive oil and freshly roasted cumin and coriander seeds the red harissa adds a fantastic zing to any meal. And the green harissa is delightful even as a dip or with cheeses.

And their spices are superb. Their Chermoula Spice that has a mild to medium flavor is great rubbed on fish, poultry and meat, delicious in an omelette and sprinkled on baked vegies with oil brings a truly authentic Moroccan flavour without leaving home.

Spice Palace also sells Grumpy Grandma’s olives and olive oils. These are naturally cured olives in brine, wood smoked and semi dried olives and their cold pressed extra virgin olive oil. They also have smoked and infused flavoured oils – garlic, chilli and more. So visit Spice Palace this week and taste their harissa.
