Plums + dragon fruit + HAPPY NEW YEAR ???

HAPPY NEW YEAR – We wish you all a healthy life filled with delicious fresh produce, great friends, much peace and lots of laughter. Happy New Year!

What’s GREAT on 3rd January 2018

There is nothing like biting into a chilled red plum for setting the taste buds tingling! And they have arrived at the Costanzo Apple Stall. These plums are also superb stewed and served with cream.

Did you know that this delicious fruit not only taste great but are a good source of potassium, fibre and vitamins A and C. They are also rich in antioxidants and contain the amino acid tryptophan that is used to produce the neurotransmitter serotonin – great for inducing sleep!

Now is the time to sink your teeth into the succulent fleshy softness of the delicious and nutritious dragon fruit from Rainbow Fruit Flats stall. Low in calories but full of goodness – dragon fruit contains a surprising number of phytonutrients.

Dr Mercola at http://foodfacts.mercola.com/dragon-fruit.htmlsays “eating dragon fruit can help the body maintain such normal function as ridding the body of toxi

c heavy metals and improved eyesight. Lycopene, responsible for the red color in dragon fruit, has been shown to be linked with a lower prostate cancer risk”. Now that is a bonus!

In its self contained packaging it is so easy to slice and scoop! Simply slice it lengthwise and either scoop out the flesh, or quarter it and peel back the leathery skin. Great to eat on the run as it is so portable.

And don’t forget that our newest stall– Tropical Delights with their unique tropical plants that include Moringa as well as turmeric, gingers, galanagal and beautiful tropical cut flowers too.

Special this week are Crabbes Creek Woodfired pizzas! Yes Jon is back and braving the extra heat to cook you your favourites!
