Persimmons + microgreens + March Madness

What’s GREAT at the Market this Week?

Nudgel Nuts has returned with new season macadamia nuts. Oh to be so lucky?

The exotic fruit adventure continues this week – possibly our last – with a few more mamey sapotes, one only soursop and a small supply of persimmons at Jumping Red Ant. These are well worth tasting to extend your experience with tropical fruit.

All Natural Meat Co is continuing their March Madness with 10 kgs pork for $99 so please email your order to Peter and Lee.

And if you love microgreens you have more choice now with trays of microgreens at Sylva Lining Organics or loose cut handfuls of radish, sunflower and pea microgreens at Summit Organics.

Did you know that persimmons are believed to help boost immunity due to the presence of vitamin C. They have one of the highest ascorbic acid (vitamin C) content among other fruits and a single persimmon has approximately 80% of the daily requirement of this beneficial nutrient. Vitamin C stimulates the immune system and increases the production of white blood cells, which are the primary line of defense for the body against microbial, viral, and fungal infections, as well as foreign bodies or toxins. They also contain phenolic compounds like catechins and gallocatechins, which are directly connected to preventing different types of cancer. Therefore, adding persimmons to your diet can help you stay protected from various types of cancer.
