This week at the market
Blueberries are at the market this week and EVERY week from now on and Amanda will also bring her heirloom tomatoes.
Organic Bok Choy at the market this week – Bio Organic Farm will have freshly picked Bok Choy for the early birds.
All Natural Meat Company – It is always wonderful to know that meat lovers can choose to support and enjoy wholesome products from happy free range animals. Thanks Peter and Lee.
Local Fusion Foods
As well as their wonderful salads (made using their own produce wherever possible), wraps, kale chips and activated nuts they will be bringing fresh limes and black sapotes (just a few), fresh from their own extensive garden.
Cooking Demo
This week Jane Holland will showcase local produce using the Thermomix. Each half hour she will make some or all of the following:
- Hazelnut Latte (local coffee)
- Beetroot Salad (beetroot, onion, apple, carrot, coriander)
- Tomato Soup with Gluten Free Bread (tomatoes and rice for GF bread)
- Raw Chocolate Semifreddo (showcasing avocados from the region)
Tastings will also include pre-made GF bread and Dairy Free cream cheese.
This demonstration will take place between Blueberries and Narbey’s Best Avocados stalls in the pavilion.

19th November – 3 Chef Cook –Off – launch of the Tweed Foodie Fest
Three Chefs Cook-Off
How better to kick off a celebration of local food than with a cook off between three of our region’s best local chefs at the Wednesday Farmers’ market on 19th November.
Jonathon Evans – Ju Ju’s Cafe, Murwillumbah (and regular market shopper); Thomas Pirker – Mavis’s Kitchen @ Mt Warning (will profile Thomas next week)and Aaron Wilkinson – The Balcony Restaurant (will profile Aaron the week after) will each receive a mystery box of ingredients from the farmers. Be at the Market on 19th to vote for your favourite chef and be inspired by the creative use of freshly picked produce grown here in the Tweed and nearby!

3rd December –
- Supporting the community – NSW Police are setting up marquee to raise awareness about domestic violence.
- CWA joins the market for their annual stall leading up to Xmas.
17th December – invited artist will add to our produce market for a one–off Xmas market opportunity. Only a limited number of local artists and artisans will be invited to sell their authentic original personally made/created items at the market – bringing more Xmas festivities to second last market before Xmas.
24th December – Christmas Eve Market – Green Cauldron Tours has booked a group of seniors and they are including the market on their tour. Be early for avocados on 24th.

- Lovely little gingerbread Christmas trees. Very popular last year as gifts, or as a Christmas table centrepiece. Handmade and decorated.

Recipe to try – dice up sweet potatoes, pumpkin and potato, toss in oil and fresh thyme then bake for about 15m minutes in a hot oven. Serve warm with grated halouni – a delicious addition to any meal.
