Star fruit  – now in season

Try this amazing tropical fruit available at the Clothiers Creek Produce stall.  The wonderfully unique star fruit has been compared to a blend of papaya, orange, and grapefruit or maybe a mix of pineapple and lemon.  You decide! Ripe star fruit is firm and has vibrant yellow skin. The more yellow the skin is, the sweeter the fruit will be. A yellow star fruit with a bit of brown along the edges is ideal.

Star fruit makes a wonderful exotic garnish for cakes, pavlovas and cocktails. It is also wonderful sliced and enjoyed on its own or added to other dishes and drinks.  For an extra tropical fruit salad toss star fruit in with bananas, kiwi fruit, mangoes, pineapple, pawpaw and grapes.

Plenty of watermelons at an amazing 0.80c/k.

Plus juicy fresh cobs of corn.

Out of season – macadamia nuts, avocados are completely outand apples are almost out of stock.  New season apples and black muscat grapes coming in over the next couple of weeks.

In March we will see the return of Nudgel Nuts and Narbey’s best Avocados with new season produce.
