Have you always wanted to know how to make a great gnocchi? Don’t miss this week’s cooking demo with with Ju Ju’s owner and chef Jonathan Evans. He will show you step by step how to create delicious potato gnocchi. It is fun and easy. This demo commences at 9.30am so arrive early to find a seat. Once all the seats are filled it will be standing room only!
Potato, potato, potato – Jumping Red Ant and Cecil Farms both offer a range of potatoes including the Sebago, Kipfler and Dutch creams. Other farm stalls also offer sweet potatoes.
Cecil Farms has:
Also Dutch Creams that are believed by some to be the queen of potatoes. This waxy potato with a rich, buttery taste makes them perfect for salads but also delicious boiled, roasted, baked and pureed.
Jumping Red Ant has:
Kipfler potatoes – a waxy, finger-shaped, knobbly potato with light yellow flesh. It has a buttery nutty taste that makes it perfect for boiling, steaming and in salads. It can also be roasted but is not a good chip potato nor for hash browns as it is not inclined to crisp. Once eaten this potato often becomes a favourite for its unique flavour.
