Potato, potato, potato – Jumping Red Ant and Cecil Farms both offer a range of potatoes including the Sebago, Kipfler and Dutch creams. Other farm stalls also offer sweet potatoes.
Cecil Farms has:
The Sebago which is versatile and great for almost every style of cooking including boiling, mash, roasting, baking, chips and mash.
Also Dutch Creams that are believed by some to be the queen of potatoes. This waxy potato with a rich, buttery taste makes them perfect for salads but also delicious boiled, roasted, baked and pureed.
Jumping Red Ant has:
Kipfler potatoes – a waxy, finger-shaped, knobbly potato with light yellow flesh. It has a buttery nutty taste that makes it perfect for boiling, steaming and in salads. It can also be roasted but is not a good chip potato nor for hash browns as it is not inclined to crisp. Once eaten this potato often becomes a favourite for its unique flavour.
26th September – FREE Farm Walk at Bio Organic Farm – 10.00am with a $5 morning tea available.
