What’s GREAT This Week?
Known by many names spring onions/shallots (eschalots or green onions) depending on the state or country you live in – this hollow tubed, white bulbed vegie from the onion family is versatile and can be enjoyed raw or cooked. Always select spring onions that are crisp and fresh and store it in your crisper wrapped in paper towel – but only for three days. Of course it is so tasty that you will have used it immediately anyway.
Thinly sliced it is wonderful over almost any warm casserole, over laksa, an omelette or sprinkled over a tossed green salad.
A search on taste.com.au revealed 3,337 spring onion recipes!! How popular and versatile is that!
Below is the link to their Goat’s Cheese and Spring Onion Galette Recipe.
I love it wilted whole and served over roasted chicken or how about a goat’s cheese and spring onion galette.
Most of our farm stalls have an abundance of spring onions so enjoy them in every way while the season lasts.
NUDGEL NUTS – MACADAMIA NUTS: This is the last week for Nudgel Nuts as Ian and Leone are off travelling BUT only for three weeks. So if you need macadamia nuts or oil stock up THIS week.
Tweed River Pecan nuts will continue to be available during Ian’s absence at SPICE PALACE.
Stallholders away:
Belles Kitchen – Unfortunately Bel became very unwell last Tuesday and didn’t come as promoted so we look forward to seeing her fully recovered and back NEXT week.
The Murwillumbah Community Men’s Shed is HERE THIS week and fortnightly now they have replenished their supplies.
Tallogum Raspberries back when new season raspberries are harvested – hopefully in September.
Spice Palace – late notice that Rob will not be at the market tomorrow. So sorry. We hope to see him back next week.
