Food demonstration this week and blueberries coming soon!

Strawberries peak!

With luscious fat strawberries at the market each week I was thrilled to see some unique recipes on a recent episode of SBS’s River Cottage. They made a strawberry, ham and mint canapé. By simply placing a big juicy strawberry on a toothpick followed by finely sliced smoked ham neatly wrapped into a triangle (try proscuito) and a mint leaf!  Voila! I suggest you visit their website and have a look at Tim’s hot-smoked strawberry and goat’s curd crostini or his strawberry ketchup! Great ideas to stimulate your new culinary creations.http://www.rivercottage.net/recipes/tags/Strawberries

As spring arrives with a bounty of new produce we will once again say farewell to Quarterdeck Organic Citrus. I am cutting into the last of their brilliantly coloured navels dripping with sweetness and enjoying it as I write!

Soon to arrive – in maybe 2-4 weeks – will be the very popular blueberries from Blueberry Fields  –  a family owned blueberry orchard located in the Byron Bay area.9Iaun

Changes at the market!

Commencing this Wednesday are the Kransky Brothers with their authentic German sausages made to their family’s secret recipe and served straight from the hot plate in fresh bread rolls with a choice of sauerkraut, onion and German mustard.

Throughout September we expect to see some new food stalls and additions to existing stalls – watch this space.

Soon Crumbs and Stuff  and Beagle and the Bagel will have new products to add to their current range.

11th Hour –  Alistair from 11th Hour Coffee van has recently source a delightful Chai Tea which he is selling by the jar. Chamellia 9 Spice Fresh Chai is a blend of aromatic spices, organic black tea and raw organic honey.

From next week Farmers Choice Organics will be at the  market EVERY week. So this is the last week they will not be at the market.
