Capsicum, leafy greens and goat's cheese salad with mangoes!

What’s GREAT at the Market this Week?

CAPSICUM is our vegie of the week as it is bursting with flavour and in abundant supply at the moment. Eaten raw or roasted, sliced or diced capsicum brings a sweet yet savoury element to any meal.

As Duska and Rob at Spice Palace know roasted capsicum adds so much flavour to their salsa along with all the other ingredients including their home grown garlic. And John and Briana at Jumping Red Ant are responding to demand by planting seedlings every week to keep up a regular supply of fresh capsicums at the market each week.

Bio Organic Farm has delicious organic capsicum grown in their greenhouses throughout the year.

But for a quick easy recipe try charring capsicum on a hot grill, followed by grilled sliced zucchini – with crumbed fetta or NVD goat’s cheese OR a simple summer salad with sliced raw red capsicum, tossed with many of the abundant greens at the market now including diced cucumber. Toss in some crumbed goat’s cheese and sprinkle with toasted seeds or Belle’s Kitchens macadamia dukkah drizzled with Grumpy Grandma’s garlic infused olive oil (from Spice Palace) and you have an easy and delicious salad. This salad is so forgiving that I often add some diced mango for a summer variation. These are also at the market this week. Please note prices may vary from stall to stall.
