Blueberries, pizaz plums and icy cool drinks

What’s New

Blueberries are back this week but only for another 2-3 weeks so come and ENJOY these delightful berries.

Otto from Blueberry Fields said that unfortunately some of the varieties simply didn’t produce as expected so the season is quickly coming to an end. Enjoy FRESH blueberries while you can!

Pizaz plums are back at Costanzo Apple Stall. It is a very short season of only a few weeks so they (and/or blood plums) may be available for about another two weeks. Pizaz plums have a yellow sweet juicy flesh and dark red skin. They are picked when ripe for the best flavour but this year the rain caused some damage so they are best consumed within a couple of days of purchasing. There is nothing like biting into a chilled red plum for setting the taste buds tingling! These plums are also superb stewed and served with cream or a topping of your choice. Blood plums may be available NEXT week.

Don’t forget the Jumping Red Ant’s lychees too. Only 2 more weeks before their short season means they are finished.

What’s Good

Summer is an invitation to enjoy fresh salad greens in a variety of combinations. The Gourmet Salad Hut always has plenty to choose from as their entire stall is salad greens and that includes a range of herbs to add that extra flavour.

There is nothing to beat an icy cold thirst quenching drink on these very hot summer days. There are so many cooling options to select from including icy frappes and chocolate chai at the Chai Harem Stall, Yogi Nectar and Grassroots Sugar Cane Juice with ginger and lime (at different ends of the pavilion) or kombucha profiled below.

Flat Earth Organics: Come and try samples and enjoy Jeremy ‘s kombucha on tap. With a great selection of flavours that vary from week to week there is a tasty and healthy probiotic drink to suit everyone’s pallet:

  • Peaches & Cream
  • Passionfruit Mojito
  • Blueberry Mango
  • Ginger, Tumeric & Lime
  • Lychee rose
  • Dragonfruit, Lime & Chilli
  • Pineapple Coconut
  • Raspberry Lemonade

So pick up a small or large bottle this week and every week bring your bottle back for a refill. Like many others you will enjoy it.
