Tailor – wood smoked and avocados – Hass and Sharwills

What’s GREAT This Week?

Avocados are in great supply at the moment. They are perfect with salads, sliced over poached eggs and fried tomatoes and served with smoked fish to name just a few ways to enjoy them.

Doug and Blanche at Narbey’s Best Avocados have lots of delicious Hass. This is the one that changes skin colour as it ripens – green to purple black and tends to have a longer season – if we are really lucky and Doug has enough to keep picking for a few more months.

Jumping Red Ant has Sharwill avocados – these are a medium sized pear shaped avocado that doesn’t brown after being cut so are perfect if you’re not using the whole avo at once. Fruiting between June and August – John will have these for the next 2-3 weeks. so creamy!

The right oily fish are running again and Damien from The Bay Smokehouse is back with golden hot-smoked Tailor… He has slow cooked these over smouldering red ironbark, blackbutt and cherry wood. “It doesn’t get better than this in the smokehouse” he said. So if you have been missing his delightful naturally smoked fish and smoked fish rillettes you will be thrilled to restock this week. And if you haven’t discovered this delightful stall yet then pop in and try a sample.
